Decided to make a late B & W Week submission in honor of my dad. He's now 77 and is local Chaplain for the Marine Corps League

My dad did the same job, same uniform, same year at Camp Pendleton. That helmet is in my basement. They may have crossed paths.

That's awesome. Interestingly Lee Harvey Oswald was station at Atsugi the same time as dad. He doesn't recall Oswald, but is sure he at least checked his credentials when Oswald passed through the base gates.

one last footnote. My high school journalism teacher in Virginia had a MCRD unit photo of Quebec company from San Diego on his classroom wall. My dad had the same photo, but of Papa company, the class that went right before it.

Thanks. Besides my wife, dad is my best friend. These are a couple shots a news photographer took of him a few years ago at a veterans day event. He plays harmonica for various events and Marine funerals and ministers to the families. He's also done part time international missions work for the last 30 years and has been on over 70 trips, to something like 20 countries. I'm trying to get him to scale it back some though because he and mom both are aging rapidly and are showing signs of early dementia. :( It's so hard to see parents age.

It’s great that he stays active like that though and is still even serving at his age. I know you’re proud of him and him of you. That’s amazing! I know that is a very hard thing to see. Especially when they were always active like that. :( He’s a great man who raised a great son though!

Semper Fi...My Dad is a Korean and Vietnam vet. My cousins son is currently the pilot of Marine Corps One. Yes..the Helicopter that flies the President.

That's awesome. My dad was actually selected by the Secret Service to guard Marine One for Eisenhower on a visit to Japan, something he has always be proud of.
