If it was as terrible as they say, the civil war woukd have happened a good 50 years ago.

The reason why it didn't was because it took 50 years to acquire the weapons for fighting.

Sadness. Crime. Depression. Abortion. Drugs. Diabetes. High Blood Pressure. These are things that are most likely in the poorest slums of the world and America. We just believe the TV and Internet.

Quality of life? Have you seen the satellite images of North Korea at night? Is it not completely dark? (As in "the lights are off" because they don't generate power at night to conserve fuel.) Where have you been? Who are you reading and trusting for "news & information? You might read "Animal Farm" for some perspective.

We all know our news is fake and our politics is a lie. It's nowhere near what we've been told. The only reason there is any problem is that we have chosen to try to starve the people there to death. But then just blamed it on their government.

And the "external enemy" has been a rallying call for Korean Marxists since Japan was occupying the peninsula. Literal generations have been isolated and terrified by their "leaders" and the USA has been the chief villain in every story. This rubbish didn't just spring up because our intemperate President decided to 'get tough' on North Korea by matching their historic rhetoric.

North Korean people that live abroad live their country more than any other people on this planet. I have been told this directly face to face.

You win. North Korea is heaven on earth. Warmongering West threatens them daily. Rumors of famine and hundreds of thousands of tons of rice shipments were fabrication and fake news. Now I get it.

All I'm saying is I've been oppressed by our government for this. And from what I was told is that it's nowhere near as bad as we're told. If their news reported a true story about the vets dying waiting in line at the VA, children being shot at schools, a senator who is going on trial for helping foreign nationals traffic in children for prostitution rings while stealing $90,000,000 from Medicaid, plus the police shooting as many as 300 unarmed innocent people in the streets in a single year--the people over there will be absolutely, positively shocked and disgusted. Our opinion of what goes on there is shaped solely by a satellite image of lights off at night and one woman who claimed she was raped in China after leaving North Korea. Stop and think about it for a second. Sit down and have a friendly talk with someone from North Korea and you'd see right away. Maybe if we were free to do so, we wouldn't need all these weapons.

Where does on meet a North Korean in the US? I would love to share a meal with one, breakfast, lunch or dinner.

I didn't I was in Japan. But trust me. If you did--you would be oppressed in ways you can only imagine from what we are told about places like North Korea. This is 100% positively true.

But that's iffy and will depend entirely on whether Trump & Pence have the ability to start making arrests.

Political discussion revolving around the relative merits of our benighted so called Republic and the workers paradise we call North Korea. (Sarcasm alert! I resort to sarcasm too easily, alas.)

Cross the boarder? That happens when a North Korean boarding house owner upsets one of his tenants. I don't get the Kim related commentary regarding a landlord.

A thanatocracy is a government in which a deceased person can permanently hold a political position posthumously. Kim Jong Un's grandfather, Kim Il Sung, is legally still the president of north Korea, even though he's very dead.

That seems the most backwards way to run a country since Egypt made their king a god and had him marry his sister(s)! But its' their country... Thanks for the clarification. "Down with all thanatocracies!"
