Looks like u r a nu user. Sometimes submissions get rejected...not always for obvious reasons. There are some suggestions various places (like on the submit form). I see nothing bad but a typo. But the mods determine what gets a public face. Or YOU do...by hot linking as above. More upvotes tends to help. But TOS, or just taste and sensibility....?

Any Statue which was created in first half of the last Century...for the Purpose of reminding returning Black Veterans (from WW I or II -usually) -that they were still 2nd class citizens - SHOULD be destroyed. Bruce would agree.

No. Not true.

The Chinese (like the Russians) predate the Americans in their arrival in the California (Republic) state. But racist laws, and Treaties made them specifically ineligble for Citizenship - see Yick Wo vs. Hopkins and "the Chinese Laundry cases". They came as 2nd class citizens for the same reason that 'Indentured' Europeans did, in previous generations. To better their lives and those of their families.

Well, in fact they would need USE. But thanks for the resource. Long ago.it was all just Lexis/Nexis and URL eniacs - nice to onow the online world includes journals.

But - You were comparing the few cases of what we now call "HUMAN TRAFFICKING" - to CHATTEL SLAVERY as conducted by European and American Financial interests, against people of another continent....to whatever the Chinese did to each other - then perpetuated by whites and others at times. And the SCALE here? Comparable?

As someone who has studied California and US history for many years...let me assure you that they are not. Even if Aetna Insurance issued INSURANCE policies on 100 Chinese Prositutes (or Slaves - or whatever word that they would use for such a purpose...), something I doubt....the Chinese were not reduced to a leg of our Tiangle Trade with Europe, Africa and the Carribean.

Yes I suppose some chinese were technically enslaved in this country back in 1897 ish and prior times....But I'd bet you that more women and girls are being trafficked today - from here, or Guatemala, or yes EVEN China - than EVER were back in the day....

So - that's where I was going with that. Bruce Taught the Gwai Loh. But so did GrandMasterJimmy H Woo...the Great Sifu.

Yes it's still going on today, sadly. Which actually makes my point even more.1500 Chinese slaves in California in 1897 is no drop in the bucket. That's a lot of slaves for a country that was supposed to have ended slavery 30 years prior.

For sure. No disagreement. But the Mandalay Plantation in Texas had Chattel Slaves (born on the property) still, in the 1950's. But that was one evil little corner of Texas. Like a lone Japanese soldier - holding out 20 years later in a Philipine Jungle...not the global phenomenon which 'the Axis' presented. Had California's economy been floated on those women - I'd say that it's. comparablem
