I've never seen a burger being cooked at McDonalds. I have seen burgers "constructed" at McDonalds, if you know what I mean.

I have, LOL.
My first real job was as a Close/Open worker for a McD. store. Basically, I tore the kitchen down each night (after the crew left) and thoroughly cleaned the equipment and lobby! So I got a very good look at how all the menu items were cooked!

(trivia: back in the day, the Special Sauce used on Big Macs was nothing more than super-thick Thousand Island dressing! )

Here's a recipe for Thousand Island:

1 part dill relish
1 part mustard
2 parts ketchup
2 parts Miracle Whip salad dressing (or whatever brand you like, just make sure it's not mayonnaisse)

I'm not a fan of relish in my salad dressing. That's why I make my own Russian Dressing,:)

I drove by an empty lot one day where asphalt was just beginning to be laid out. I watched the progress every day. A week later, it was a fully-functioning Taco Bell.

Same with me, it was a Taco bell too, it was just a big fenced in hole in the ground, I drove by two weeks later and their stood a completely finished Taco bell with people walking out with food. It's like they just trucked in a fully built building and dumped it there.

Dayum! I can remember when it took me 3 days to make a popsicle stick birdhouse!

This is funny. They do seem to go up rather quickly.

Mind you, this was back in the early 80s. Next door neighbor was dating the crew chief. Once built, they stay there almost forever. You will see them under remodeling as well.

No, they're pretty set on their ways about bringing in out of town labor to do the construction. I observe a lot of unusual things as I watch the world around me. I've gone into an IHOP and ordered pancakes, only to be told they were out. I've had to go pick up cab drivers and take them home (years before I drove a cab, myself)

I'm not an exception to the rules. I make my own.

Not saying a whole lot is happening where I reside... But it was an immense pain to wait for that sweet, sweet whopper action.

It's been a few years since I perused AMERICAN RIFLEMAN and the other gun mags..
Is that a .45-70 Govt. wheel gun? Looks like it's GOTTA weigh 4 pounds (empty)!

there was a kfc that took like a week to build and a Krispy kreme next to it that took like a month

Because they're made in a central factory, frozen, shipped, opened, thawed, and then deep-fried on site, ready to serve (add smiley badge here).

I live in a half-commercial / half-residential part of a suburb rapidly becoming saturated with fast-food restaurants. Admittedly, I don't drive those streets every day, but:
the # of places I noticed actually being constructed is vastly outnumbered by the ones that just seemed to pop up from nowhere. LOL

Lol, this just happened to me, a complete McDonald's facility just popped up in my city.
The funniest thing is that while it took them like what, a night (?), to set up the whole building, the workers are still struggling with paving the street walk around it, one week after.

I saw one start construction once, after about 2 months it was done and hiring!

And you're definitely, absolutely, positively, sure that you weren't seeing a holographic movie about a building being constructed while the pre-fab restaurant was being trucked in???
