We have a phone through Cablevision we don't use, came with a discounted package for cable and wifi. Year later, price goes up, I call to get rid of said phone line, and they offered me a rate that would be cheaper to KEEP it than get rid of it,,
(My elderly pops wants to stick with Verizon for the phone, so...)

They do anything to keep a customer, even give you things you have no use for. When I asked about their Internet plus package, which is Internet and basic cable (20 stations) it was only going to save me about 20 bucks a month. So, I may as well keep my over 200 stations and just shop for a better provider. Hopefully Sling TV will be around soon.

That's what happened to me when I had my own place. Want a channel to catch a certain movie? Well here's three. And for just a few bucks more, you might as well go for broke,,, Even before I got online (I'm a ludite) they kept trying to sell me that too.

Yup. And any good deals you get that have a certain time span, you better keep an eye on your calendar. All of a sudden your bills will jump right up.

I have a Western Digital box and would love to keep their Internet and go with streaming television, but wife has her shows that she's addicted to, like The Real Housewives Of Bagdad, and they wouldn't be available.

I've up graded to faster and more expensive routers four times in six years because supposedly their network is getting faster and I decided to buy my own instead of paying them a monthly fee to use theirs. They don't seem to like that. They also don't like it when you go wireless with your computer (not coaxial cable). And their television service isn't much better.

Haha. Comcast has a monopoly in my area. No other providers in the city except Fios and that's in particular areas. I've been through so much with these guys, I'll bash them every chance I get.
