Awww! I'm going to show this to my daughter who is a little overwhelmed with two lol! Having one fixed and one in heat is a bit tough at the moment, plus our three cats but everything will calm down and adjust in a week or so I keep telling her ;)

Things would be easier around here if the guy we got them from had told us one was in heat and the other about to be. I wasn't sure if they were really sisters until they both basically started at the same time. We got Lily in hoping she hadn't started yet but the extra 70$ on the vet bill says she had started.. sigh. Just part of having dogs though, you can't get upset at those type of bills it's what's best for the dogs.

Yeah there is always unexpected bill suprises when you have pets but they are definitely worth it :)

Very true, plus I almost spent a bunch on adoption fees but found these two on craigslist so things always balance out. You can't put a price on the looks on my kids faces either ;)

Yup, I told my daughter she had to be there to pick Lily up from the vet today. Since she was when dropping her off she needed to be the one to "save" her from the vet. That stuff sure imprints on them, I wish we didn't have to take her to get fixed so early after getting her but nature wasn't waiting and I was trying to save her from having to wear diapers like Lucy is right now lol. Of course the vet could have let me know she was already in heat and was goint to charge me $70 more but it is what it is lol.

Our fattest dog ended up with (forgot the word) but went down to skin and bone poops and vomit. Think that suprise cost was around $400

Unfortunately we lost Lily :'( Our vet said that while they were homeless she must have eaten something that was very dead. It gave her some sort of weird bug that there is no cure for. Vet said we could put her on oxygen and draw it out as she suffered but of course we didn't choose that. My poor daughter had to lose two dogs in the span of two weeks, even if one I found on the side of the road and the other we got from a guy on craigslist and had for only 5 days. She's a sensitive one my girl is and it really crushed her. Lucy is doing great at least, I still don't think that dog believes how lucky she is yet ;)

I know it, my daughter instantly took to Lily so Lucy became my sons dog by default, since he's six and was just happy to have anything lol. Lucy was in heat so we had Lily fixed, which cost me $100 since she was also beginning heat and the vet just figured I wouldn't mind the extra $70 charge. We had her home 3 maybe 4 days and she couldn't keep any food down after the first day back. We just thought she was having a bad reaction to the surgery meds or something, nope, she had been sick for a while apparently, at least long enough for us to know for sure she was sick when we got her. Not that there being nothing we could have done about it made it any easier on my daughter, at least not at first.

She wasn't really around long enough for the lil guy to get attached, kid bounces around like a hummingbird all the time and isn't the deep thinker his sister is at this stage in his life ya know lol. So we bailed on this country for a while which was good for all of us I think, at least my daughter isn't scared to get attached to Lucy now and she told me she never would after Lily, she just couldn't help it when we picked her up at my parents after we got back and she was so happy to see us, even if I do believe Lucy misses my parents spoiling her just a little ;)

I had been thinking the cats were enough, then I found an old dog somebody had thrown in a ditch on the way home the other day. Poor thing didn't make it despite the 100$ at the vet from me trying. But I saw my kids trying to comfort that dog before I took it to the vet and felt they deserved a dog of their own after having to tell them he didn't make it. Didn't think I'd end up with two that were in heat but the guy was going to take them to the pound and I didn't want them split up because I'm just a big damn softy lol. They are settling in and my kids are so happy "if exhausted" I can't regret any of it ;)

My kids love their dogs! Especially My oldest, I am sure we will always have animals. I would love to have a cat or two BUT we have one Boxer who disagrees with that decision!!! I am so glad you were able to give those 2 babies a good home!

It's been a long couple nights, but then the chance to tell my 16 yr old.. this is why you don't want kids is priceless lmao!

I got a kitten when my boxer was 2. This summer they will be 8 and 6. If you get a kitten the dog will get use to it and eventually the cat will rule the dog at least in the house. Outside the dog is more brave.

We have tried several times. 2 of the boxers we have love cats. But Sadie just won't give up. She will kill herself trying to get to a cat, even after 3 or 4 months of seeing the same one every day. We love her though so no cats for us LOL Your boxer is beautiful!! So is the cat :)

That is an awesome pic lol! My big male cat already doesn't care about the dogs, but he is about as big as the smaller of the two. Now my female cats are hiding in my room, but one has always been scared of everything anyway. They have been around dogs before it will just take some adjustment time. Really love that pic, the look on both of their faces is meme worthy big time :)

When my cat was a kitten they would play together and the cat would sleep next to or on the dog. Now they do there best to ignore one another. Its funny sometimes when the cat meows to go outside or to let me know it wants something it freaks the dog out and wherever she is she gets up and comes over and stands or lays next to me as if she's looking for protection. They also get jealous of one getting more affection then the other just like kids. Funny
