I know it, my daughter instantly took to Lily so Lucy became my sons dog by default, since he's six and was just happy to have anything lol. Lucy was in heat so we had Lily fixed, which cost me $100 since she was also beginning heat and the vet just figured I wouldn't mind the extra $70 charge. We had her home 3 maybe 4 days and she couldn't keep any food down after the first day back. We just thought she was having a bad reaction to the surgery meds or something, nope, she had been sick for a while apparently, at least long enough for us to know for sure she was sick when we got her. Not that there being nothing we could have done about it made it any easier on my daughter, at least not at first.
She wasn't really around long enough for the lil guy to get attached, kid bounces around like a hummingbird all the time and isn't the deep thinker his sister is at this stage in his life ya know lol. So we bailed on this country for a while which was good for all of us I think, at least my daughter isn't scared to get attached to Lucy now and she told me she never would after Lily, she just couldn't help it when we picked her up at my parents after we got back and she was so happy to see us, even if I do believe Lucy misses my parents spoiling her just a little ;)
