No worries, lots of new users don't know. Once you've been around long enough and made some friends on the site, sometimes they don't mind it. Doing it on stranger's memes or targeting front page memes is generally frowned upon. You'll learn your way around the site. If you want some tips, you can always follow the link in my profile tag line. Others have said they've found it useful.

You're welcome. We want new users to be successful. If all I saw was Raydog and Dash and TammyFaye memes everyday it'd get old fast. Seeing other users emerge and build a following is always cool to see.
The best way in my opinion? Comment and comment often (just not linking to your own memes :p). Making funny comments can help build your rep and actually earn you more points than memes can. I've certainly made more points off of comments this week than memes. Apparently I'm one of the few people who find my memes funny this week. That's the way it goes though. You never know what will actually be a successful meme on this site.
You're right. I guess the best way IS to make friends. You make a great point with that only Raydog and Dashopes memes and stuff. Thanks again, and I WILL try and become more active.
