I actually saw this happen once. My friend and I were riding bikes over railroad tracks. It had rained earlier and the road was wet. His front tire wasn't perpendicular to the rail and slipped sideways getting stuck between the rail and the groove in the road. He went over the handlebars and the front rim practically bent in half. Luckily no train was coming.

There use to be a guy here I Tuscaloosa That had the front tire off his bike! He;d ride that damn thing on the guard rails in the median! lol
