Well done! He'll be cremated, so no tombstone, but we'll probably take him out on the lake one more time if you know what I mean.

About 25 years ago when mine passed, I had the assignment of calling his pastor who also happened to be his best friend. I was thinking I was going to here a lot of stuff designed to make me feel better, but that would only make me feel worse. The 1st thing he said to me was "Oh what memories you must have". I have the feeling yours left you with a bunch too. Maybe yours and mine will meet up on the bank one day and swap fish stories :)

My brother is taking care of the immediate arrangements, & then we'll have a memorial in the spring when we can take his ashes out on the water. He'll go to the crematorium with a rod and reel.

Funny thing is, he always wanted a "Viking" funeral... set adrift on his boat which is then set ablaze. I can think of several governmental agencies that would frown uponthat, however!

Well the nice thing about ashes is you can scale it down a lot :) I'm glad that hit home for you, I had never really shared that story but thinking about it again made me sad and smile at the same time. I guess that's how we know for sure they are good memories!
