Yea, alcohol has not been kind to the Native Americans. What puzzles me is why that population had never made any alcoholic drinks of any kind in their history? Maybe they were so nomadic, or something?
My 2nd ex's dad was born and raised in Peru and moved here, we've talked about the native peoples there. The Incas and many tribes had one drink that they fermented, it's called Chicha Beer, it's made from potatoes. They take a potato, take a bite, chew and spit it into a big pottery jar with more potatoes, wait a few weeks, and it's party time! It's terrible, good lord! Lol :)
I've seen stuff like that before on TV. As a matter of fact I think Andrew Zimmern on bizarre foods drank it once...I think I'm gonna hurl! I think I'll stick to bud light and the occasional crown apple and cranberry shooter or a shot of jack fire.
