The 2016 imgflip Awards are brought to you by a voting panel. Top 15 memers were invited and asked to nominate other memers who they felt are assets to the community. If you feel you should be considered for next year's voting panel please let me know, and if you don't automatically qualify next year we'll put your nomination up for a vote.

There are 10 "Best" type categories, 9 of which where only memers active in 2016 are considered. One category applies to any memer ever.

There are an additional 7 categories for Best Memer by portion of the Top 100 Leaderboard. Positions 31-100 were broken into groups of 10 and will reflect the list as I saw it at 6 a.m. CST on January 1, 2017.

I will be releasing two memes daily Monday through Thursday this week, for a total of 8 memes. One of Monday's memes will simply be listing the breakdown of the brackets for Top 100 positions 31-100. The other 7 memes will announce the nominees already selected by the nomination committee, and will be open to the imgflip community to nominate anyone we could have all overlooked!

The goal of the awards is to celebrate the community we all enjoy. Even if you haven't been nominated we hope you still enjoy the awards by getting to nominate your personal favorites in the various categories (and nothing says you can't nominate yourself!) and cheer on your favorites as we advance to the Finals and then announce the Winners.

Oh behalf of the voting panel I would like to thank the entire community for being hands down the best community on the web! There is a lot of talent on this site, and there are a lot of funny people!

Just like most of the awards shows I tried to save the best categories for last.

Although, if you check the community_based meme stream from my profile page you may get a sneak peak at what's coming the next day.

Individual memes are too hard to figure out. We're trying to focus on memers and what they've done for the year.

If we get better search tools we could add individual memes in the future.

Then I probably won't get much. I never really have had much impact on the community, but I have fun making memes.

As the categories come out, check to see if you feel you should be nominated for them. Even if you don't have quantity, quality could sway voters.
