statistically the weather-forecast has a 90% chance of being right, your brain is just better at remembering rare events, so the amount of memories you have of either scenario might suggest the opposite of the truth

Too many times I've seen weather fronts move out over the lake and then turn back towards the land. I seems to me that predicting weather near the Great Lakes would is more challenging.
