Kids are ridiculously expensive, even when you don't spoil them. If you helped make it, you should help to pay for it.

It goes both ways, both parents should pay for their kids. I know my father raised me alone and my mother never paid child support, so my father would sacrifice what he wanted so I wouldn't have to go without. It's shitty when the ex spends the money on themselves rather than the child it was intended for, but not all parents are assholes.

And make sure you pay it. If your income changes, up or down, let the court know. Pay increase, at least annually. Decrease due to layoff or company closing, immediately. It pisses off the misses, and puts you in good light with the court. Remember, those kids are your responsibility. It never hurts to have the court on your side.
