The thought is good. I'm sure the top users who get tons of notifications would love to get tons more, I myself if I want to see someones memes I go to their profile n check up, but I like the diversity of scrolling and different and new users. I would rather have a button to get rid of political or religious posts. But that's just me, good to see what others think.

Just saying that there already is a way for this to happen without needing to add anything to imgflip.

Otherwise it would just be more disorganized and inconvenient. It'd be much easier if you could access a users list straight from imgflip.

Firefox, Chrome, and Safari all allow options for creating folders to put bookmarks in. Not checking InternetExploder because there is no good reason to be using that any more.

Now if there was a page added that had usernames listed in alphabetical order and could search there for users on that page, that would be one thing. At least all users could be seen, not just the top 100. The only thing they would have to do is to get it to automatically populate itself for the new users that would be added daily and the users that delete their profiles.

If they start adding a follow/subscribe option, would they also need to add a ### Following/ ### Followed counter as well on the profiles? Maybe also a block user feature as well. Like I said in a previous comment, if you start adding features like that, you start making this site another facebook.

I don't think a #following/followed would be necessary. Block user could be useful though, in case of trolls/spammers, I haven't seen any major trolls/spammers in quite a while, so we might not even need that. I'm not asking for anything particularly crazy, just a page that has a list of links.

Not saying that you are necessarily asking for that, but it is basic human instinct that once one feature is added, someone else will want to have it expanded to something else. I am not saying that the site is perfect and that some things shouldn't be changed, but just saying what I have seen from people on other sites when things change.

I get your point here, but I doubt that we'd ever add things like IMs and emoticons for two reasons.

1. I just can't see people going from a list of quick, convenient user links to private messaging/chat and stuff like that. Maybe I just don't know people, but... I can't see it.

2. I doubt the mods would spend time on something like that. Heck, I doubt they'll ever consider this, even if I got 200 upvotes on it.

Let's leave imgflip alone! It works as-is. Let's not make it just another social media site. Just my newb humble opinion.

This has come up a few times, the two detractions that has been discussed is that users could just log in, check on their favorites and leave without looking at other material. The other is that it makes it too easy for trolls to assemble "hit lists". I don't mean to be a wet blanket, I still think its a good idea but those have been the negatives.

I look at the front page, hoping for inspiration (LOL) and then check out all of the "latest" pages for as long as I have time, hoping to find good, new users, new templates, etc. I'd rather throw an upvote or comment to someone that needs it.

Yeah, I get your point. I just feel like being able to quickly access the profiles of users I like without having to go to the leaderboard or write them down would be nice.

This idea has floated around in the past and I think most users who gave their opinion of it said they'd rather not. I think I would have to agree. I think there would be problems associated with it. I won't go into them, but I don't think it would work on this site. But I have been known to be wrong before.

I suppose, depending on how it gets implemented (which I doubt it ever will, but hey, might as well try) and depending on if a lot of people are assholes or not, it could go either way.
Well, mods are gods and I doubt this will ever even be taken really seriously. But if it does... I guess we'll just have to see how it works out.

Well, I made a meme bringing up the whole issue of making meme comments and the whole commenting too much and losing your comment. After that the issue for the most part was fixed. You never know what a user's meme will prompt mods to look into. They do actively patrol the site.

So here is a question for you. What exactly would you get a notification on? When they make a new meme comment? A new meme to be submitted in the future? Or would it be when the meme gets featured?

The problem I see with this idea, for those who only have a limited time they can spend on here anyways, that may be all they end up looking at, which will keep them from being the opportunity of seeing new users with new meme ideas. Bookmarking profiles is just as effective. Or if needed, pick a specific browser to use and have it setup where when you first open it up all the profiles you want to look at automatically opens. Having a subscribe/follow feature starts turning this into a "meme"book site, which would only start up the desire to have IM features, interactive profile pages, emojis, ect.

I'd say when the meme is featured. Otherwise it might be too much. In fact, if we were to actually implement this, it'd probably have to be simplified to a page with a list of links to the profiles of the users of your choice. Too many notifications... augh, Facebook flashbacks! it burns my eyes!!

Anyway, I'm aware that bookmarking profiles is an option; however, I'd like to be able to organize said bookmarks, and Chrome is the only browser I've used that, to my knowledge, can have bookmark folders. I'm a Chrome user most of the time, but if that wasn't my browser of choice, I'd probably find it annoying to have to download another browser just so I can have my imgflip-related stuff organized.

Finally, I don't think the slippery slope will get that bad. This is just a proposal to have a convenient way to access your favorite users without having to bookmark each profile individually and or write them all down somewhere, you know?

I don't know. It just seems to me to make this even more about popularity than it does about memes. I could be wrong, but seeing where it could go and the possibilities with it, that is what it seems.

Maybe you're right. I don't mean for this to be a popularity contest, I just want to make sure I have easy access to the users I particularly like. I especially thought this would be good for someone like me who is not only very lazy and doesn't want to go to a new tab to copy and past links one by one, but I also don't have the best memory, so almost anyone who isn't on the leaderboard is easy for me to forget. So contrary to making this about "Oh, look, the top users just get even more attention", I'm trying to make this more about an easy way to remember the less well known users.

Does that make sense? Probably not. Eh.

That is true, that is true... and also, if you are following enough people, the notifications might get annoying. Maybe if you just had a link on your profile to the people you subscribe to and it would show the number of new memes they've made there (or even just having a list of users and links to their page would be nice). I mean, I guess it'd get pretty annoying to receive a notification every time one of them made a meme, especially if you couldn't differentiate notifications on your memes from notifications on other memes.

Yeah, I doubt the mods will consider this, since it's not exactly necessary. Still, worth a shit.
