It's a reference to a catchy party song... "You put the lime in the coconut, and drink it all up" is how it goes. Or something along those lines. The little pug isn't sure about whether he wants to go along with it. :)

Hmm. I don't know. The idea for the meme popped into my head about a week or two ago. And then seeing ZeDamnVord's meme on the same template reminded me of it, so that's why I posted it.

I try that, usually. I've rarely won a popularity contest myself, but enjoy meme commenting the noobs (who frequently don't upvote me, being uncultured). My comment to upvote ratio is very low compared to my effort, one of the worst in the top 100.

Popularity isn't really worth trying to hang onto. Nobody can control it. People can like you one day, then forget about you the next.

Yeah, I've noticed that too - if I comment on memes in Latest, a lot of people don't respond to the comment in any way. But I still like going through Latest! There's some unusual memes there. And more variety.

Here's the way I do it:

if I'm scrolling through Latest, I try to give a lot of upvotes (I don't upvote anonymous memes, memes that insult other users, or memes that break submission guidelines, but if I understand it and it's even half-funny I figure they get an upvote for trying).

if I'm scrolling through Hot, I use upvotes and downvotes to "steer" the memes in the direction I want them to go. I upvote it if I want to see that meme move closer to the Front page, and I downvote it if I want it to move away from the Front page.

The reason I do that is because the Front page is the part of imgflip that's most visible to the rest of the world, so I want to do my part to make sure that the memes that get there are the best of what we've been making on the site.

Of course, how everyone uses the upvote and downvote button is up to them. :)

Yes, that makes sense and I guess since everyone has different likes and dislikes, we end up getting to see quite a variety--some good and some bad bc, again, we all have different tastes. What I like about the majority of members on this site is that we can debate and most are very respectful and remain friendly. I am conservative in my views and have had some friendly discussions with others who are very liberal. I thank you for your help and always enjoys seeing your memes!
