The point of memes isn't to be "brand new" all the time. There's no problem with remaking a meme. In fact, it's a good thing to do. If people never did it, then the only way people would find that meme is by actively searching for it. It's good to make sure good memes stay in circulation by having them repeated.
Credit for memes isn't an issue at all, since memes aren't a format where individual credit matters (most so-called "original" memes really aren't), and we're all working with usernames so nobody knows who we are anyway.
It's the meme that matters, not the person who made it.
