I feel the same way. The state where I live has been tracking where some EBT transactions have been taking place. A few at Fenway Stadium, Tweeter Center concerts, liquor stores, casinos, even off shore, all the way in Puerto Rico. So the people collecting benefits seem to be living it up but can't find jobs. THAT'S ABUSING THE SYSTEM.

But Obamacare fixed all of that. I saw it on CNN, MSNBC, ABC etc. I currently work for an employer that does not offer medical because Obamacare has made it unaffordable. They gave me a fat raise so I could buy my own insurance but it wasn't enough because I have a pre-existing condition. Wasn't Obamacare supposed to fix that?

That, and most companies can't afford to cover all the things it's forcing them to suddenly begin covering, so they just raise the rates etc. The government always screws things up when they get involved in commerce and try to manipulate the market.

You have out-of-pocket expenses until you meet your deductible. Being in the medical billing industry, I see deductibles as high as 10 grand.

While insurance does offer some savings, your premiums aren't applied to anything of course. So you have your regular charges *plus* premiums. If you put those premium charges away instead of in someone else's pocket, then you'll have more to pay your own bills with. The bills you'd have without insurance anyway. It does help if something major happens, but most people just have your average expenses: e.g. office visits, prescriptions.

Exactly right. A former employer offered free health insurance and acted like he was giving away a fortune. Employers as well as employees can shop around for the most affordable insurance. And while it doesn't get any cheaper for an employee than free, there was a $5,000 deductible. So you have insurance, you won't get penalized, but don't ever use it.
