What would be funny is if something like this was to go into science books in the near future.

My friend and his wife had a baby in 01 that was born a hermaphrodite. The doctors talked them into doing surgery right away to remove the male parts because it was the easier option surgically (they didn't offer the parents genetic testing first). A few years down the road they started noticing "she" had boyish features the older she got. Long story short she is a 15 year old boy trapped in a girls body. When she gets older I am sure she will have a complete sex change. It's sad, I think DNA genetic testing should be required before things like that take place.

Or maybe no changes should be made until the individual is capable of making the decision themselves.

True, there is nothing simple to the life we live. :-)
I grieved for them when they had to make that decision and I grieve for them today I am sure that they feel completely responsible for making the wrong choice. She will no doubt grow up to be a wonderful man though, who will make big things of himself, a very intelligent child :-)

Do you realize that you contradict yourself here? If you want to claim that we can't teach US History, Sex Education, and Sports correctly, then shouldn't you believe that we wouldn't be able to teach gender correctly either? Otherwise what you are saying is that the only thing we can teach correctly is gender.
