The pussies standing around watching the bully are worse than the bully.

Agreed! Letting it happen is just as bad as doing it. I hate to hear about young kids who will never get to live out their life because someone else thought it was "cool" to pick on them. I feel like knocking those people's teeth out (Among other highly illegal actions).

The important thing is to make those connections before one becomes depressed. Depression is a black whole, it's nearly impossible to pull yourself out alone.

Nearly but with the right motivation it's possible I've done it a couple times

I agree, I have too, but I can honestly say it would've been much easier if I had other people helping me, ya know?

Aw man I'm sorry to hear that bro :/ That's what I was trying to say, is find some good friends (or even just one) that can help keep you out of that downward spiral, and can help you think. Personally, it was hard to think rationally when I was depressed, the thing that stopped me was the thought of how it would effect the people around me.

Yeah I don't have many friends what got me out of it was the motivation that I would be out of the problem some day and with the one I love

I hope you're doing better now. I know it's easy to slip back into those feelings, but I say, live your life, follow your dreams, and you only live once, why not take some gambles? ;D

Thanks.I was once suicidal myself, so this topic is important to me personally. I find it so sad to read about young teens especially who are bullied into suicide because it's "cool" to pick on the weak :I

I appreciate it, but what I think we really need is more kids being taught to stand up to bullies

Some people make it about points, some about the front page.. IMO The comments section is my favorite! So much awesome creativity goes on there, not to mention supportive comment threads (like this one).

Beautiful! I dealt with bullies for about 2 years after a school change when we moved to another county. The worst two years of my life. I have taught my 15 year old to be kind to everyone and especially those who are getting picked on. Sadly Bullying begins at home a lot of times.

Man, I am so sorry to hear that :( (If I may ask, what country where you originally from?). I'm glad you taught your child that; Bullying hurts people so easily and the effects can stay with that person for life.
But sadly, like you say, bullying can begin at home by a sibling (or worse, a parent). Then we wonder why kids grow up and become addicted to drugs or try to become terrorists. I hope you were able to overcome that experience, I'm sure the jerk who bullied you isn't "cool" anymore

Sadly my bully died a few years ago in a construction working accident. I made peace with him in highschool and am good friends with his widow. I have always been in the USA my comment was supposed to say county lol my phone autocorrects the craziest stuff. I appreciate your meme! If it reaches even one bullies eyes and changes their perspective it could make a huge difference in some child's life! Glad you were able to overcome as well!!!
7 ups, 9y
At least you guys were able to make peace before his accident. It is my dream that nobody would commit suicide, there's too much to live for!

P.S. Your phone is fine, my idiot brain misread county xD

I cant stand to see this happen to people, anytime someone is being bullied i will always put an end to it, even if i don't know the person. I have had friends who were bullied and were tempted to commit suicide and i have helped them, i have showed them that the world is not such a bad place, that life is worth living. No one deserves to be through what these people go through.

Kudos to you! I think cyberbullying is the wirst because someone can anonymously say anything that they want, and have zero irl social consequences. Both are terrible though. I'm glad we have people like you standing up to them! You're right, nobody deserves to be made to feel like tgey should kill themselves.

Is this meme implying that bullies are responsible when a bullying victim commits suicide?
7 ups, 9y,

I feel that bullying is often the cause or at least a major part of the reason for their decision.
4 ups, 9y,

Ok, but it sounds like you're saying they're responsible for the victim's actions to some degree.
5 ups, 9y
But aren't they? Responsible to some degree. Teens commit suicide based on the moment and what is hurting them at that moment. Often that's being bullied.
5 ups, 9y,
1 reply
Personally it's my belief that they are responsible for /causing/ that person to make that decision. And I do feel that oftentimes bullies are responsible for the suicide of their victims; Or at least partially so.
4 ups, 9y,

Ok, thanks for letting me know how you see it. It's hard for me to wrap my head around that view. The way I see it, a person's emotions are their own, and a person's decisions are their own.

My take on the bully/victim scenario is that the bully is responsible for the bully's actions, and the victim is responsible for the victim's actions.
6 ups, 9y
Sorry, I'm not very good at clarifying my statements. What I meant was, a bully is responsible for their actions, and the consequences of their actions. So if their actions cause someone to become depressed to the point that they kill themselves, then I think that (At least indirectly) they are responsible for the victims actions.
5 ups, 9y
The assumption there though is that there is only one bully. Often as in my case the bullying was a feeding frenzy mentality. I went through it when my parents who didn't have a lot, sent me to a private school. It was obvious I didn't have the advantages (at least monetarily) the other kids had. All it took was a couple of the popular kids to start the bullying and everyone it seemed joined in. It can be a tough situation when you don't have a social safety net to turn to (as in school friends) and no one wants to go home and tell family "I'm the least popular kid" In school. You take the blame on yourself for whats wrong when that isn't the case. The worst part of that is once it starts, it self perpetuates into more social awkwardness that invites more bullying especially in the middle school-early high school ages. While ultimately whether someone chooses to fight back, or let it consume them is up to the individual, not all of us are wired the same, or have the same family structure to help us survive.
4 ups, 9y
But bully's make victims. Some (not all) teen suicides are the direct result of the unending torturous bullying they are subjected to.
And I would agree we are all ultimately responsible for own own actions. But I'm talking about kids. And teens have a very hard time negotiating adolescence without the added stress of torture.
