Being a cop nowadays, you think of this everyday. It doesn't matter that it was a justified shooting. What happens? You lose your job. You can't go back because of the stigma you created, not that you really want to after you remember that you killed someone. You lose your pension. Lose your house and savings from a civil lawsuit. Have to move to another city where people don't know you. Because of the stress, your spouse leaves you and takes your kids. The rest of your family and friends always have a small bit of doubt about you. Need I go on?
