The kicker is that the moon landing happened in 1969, when CGI was still in its infancy. CGI wasn't able to replicate humans until roughly the early 1980s, and the first fully CGI film, Pixar's "Toy Story", wasn't released until 1995. That means that there was at least an eleven year gap between the moon landing and CGI being good enough to replicate human beings, and a gap of 26 years - almost THREE DECADES - between the moon landing and the release of the first fully CGI-animated film.

The humans in "Toy Story" did not look photorealistic to me. Now the humans in "Shrek" and "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within", both of which came out in 2001, those humans looked photorealistic to me.

Even better that both of those are an even bigger gap apart from the moon landing. 😂
