Yes, and as you mentioned, he underestimated it. Many, many people have taken a dive into a shallow pool or body of water and either lost their lives or were severely injured (sometimes permanently) 😔.

It is a very unfortunate situation and bringing awareness to it will hopefully have someone check the depth of water prior to diving in, offsetting an outcome that changes their life forever.

Is he alright...?

We can really only hope so as it looks like he hit his face on landing. If he's able to walk out of there, he will at minimum have some pretty nasty head trauma from that failed jump.
