I didn't even read this before:
"the targets are old or sick members of the packs."
No, millionaires don't goes to cull old runts. They're going after big bulls or big females in their prime.
"Human industralization and expansion is why we don't see many record breaking animals anymore, and has nothign to do with trophy hunting today."
That doesn't even make any sense, let alone is anything akin to remotely true.
It's called evolution. Go ahead, look up why tusks have been disappearing with successive generations of Asian and now African elephants.
Also while you're at it, check out what happened to elephant in Uganda after the Mass slaughter. The culture of what were the leftover orphans changed.
Also check out has been happening in South Africa with young bulls attacking and even killing rhinos. Find out the causes and the solutions.
But you're not going to, so.....
Basically in Uganda during whatever strife in the early 80s, almost all the adults were wiped out for their tusks. The orphans that survived formed huge skittish herds, different from the usual elephant lineage based groupings, devoid of elder females to teach them their ways.
In South Africa, hunters killed so many big bull elephants that they weren't any to teach the younger ones (upon hitting puberty, males leave the herd and go solitary or form groups with other solo males) that rhinos aren't other elephants to be sparred with, and also to temper their tempers. So they saw rhinos as rivals and just pummeled them to death with what would have been basic sparring with other elephants learning how to fight or establish their place in the hierarchy within the group.
The solution is to bring in seasoned bulls from afar to discipline them.
