Fun fact: there’s a comedic opera where that’s a plot point. It’s called The Pirates of Penzance. They made it a movie starring Kevin Kline, Angela Lansbury, and Linda Ronstadt, among others.

I saw the opera once and it was hilarious

The movie version has George Rose as the Major General, and he’s hilarious, he was great in that role.
