Yeah, it's a mess. I'm for gun rights, I think we need to get to the socio-psychological factors- why these shootings are happening so often in the first place & deal with them. (not by drugging the kids)

i own several, i know how to use them all well, they are all safe in my home, and i have no suspicions that any of them will ever sprout legs and go kill anyone. control activists don't understand these concepts and that most law abiding people out there that own guns do so quietly and without any issues. you are correct, it is the mental illness that drives people to commit any act of violence like that. i hear all that crap about gun show loopholes, and i can say i have never purchased a gun at a gun show without a background check that equals what would take place in a gun store.
