I'm there with 'ya. Being absolutely UNIQUE, in a world full of sameness - not a bad thing. But in a culture which values homogenized EVERYTHING...not always appreciated or popular. Lost on the audience, often.
In the past these guys have done the San Jose Improv... http://www.smodcast.com/channel/hollywoodbabbleon?audio=297
Early on in this pod they give a shout-out to two folks from Peoria, Arizona.
Kevin says," Wait you gotta tell me...does this show 'play in Peoria'...?" To mostly silence...Ralph sez - "you had an audience of one for that." But I was laughing. So there are few of us...
Mozart was probably best loved - at a distance. But also ... Some how, he was also a member of a Lodge called 'Perfect Harmony'. I can't really imagine him doing a tonne of tbe work of the Lodge...or even passing through the grades, to acheive such a degree of 'perfection' (but perhaps Tom Hulce and co. slandered him). But their are more direct paths - so perhaps he was given an early hand, when being raised-up.
So historically and traditionally there have been places, where those with few peers can still find each other. For better or worse, tha 'flip seems to be a place like that - in the meme-osphere. So we're all stuck with each other, to a certain extent. But from that point, mutually-democratic, Free-Association becomes the order of the day. So well met. And glad to have you as a friend.
