Maybe not everyone needs to fall behind, just enough people so that the school actually has to make our lives easier for us. Then even if the Asian kids do less work, their parents still see good grades and get satisfied with themselves. Ppl with less strict parents will have to take one for the team for a little while.
The general idea is if everyone's doing poorly, then our parents can't really point at some other student and use their classic line of "well they're doing just fine, so why can't you?"
But I get what you mean, some parents think more irrationally than others, so they'd blame their kid regardless.
