Did you not read your own article? LMAO! The non registered people replied no when asked if they were a US citizen while applying for driver licenses and identification cards. But apparently the software thought they were citizens so registered them to vote. They didn't even try to vote.

The common good is not part of socialism, every economic system has that! Is setting rules like: you must not steal from others or don't ruin the public water fountains that everybody needs to use socialist in any way? You can still have a capitalist society, but there are infrastructure and services that everybody uses. Not ruining these is the common good.
I can agree that businesses funded by the government are bad. But what if there is a new strategic industry like AI that can improve our entire economy? You wouldn't want competitors like China to take over this industry. A lot of times, the market alone cannot drive a long term profitable change. Government money and subsidies are often needed to establish a new soon to be profitable industry.

The federal government exists because it acts as the ultimate authority to enforce common good rules. Some states AND corporations may follow regulations, but other states and corporations may not. The federal government exists to enforce common good rules so that everybody across the entire US is not negatively impacted by irresponsible people's decisions.
People in another state should be able to have a good home environment like you.
Government money was not for helping businesses clean up waste. Government money was for subsidizing clean up companies early on so that clean up becomes more affordable in the long term.
