But how is single payer healthcare going to solve everything? If people can have their own healthcare, they should buy their own.

In countries with a single payer system (think the UK and Canada), everyone gets basic healthcare for free or for very low cost. It's not perfect, but nobody goes broke because their kid got sick, or because they got sick between jobs.

People can pay for more elaborate health care or health treatments, but nobody loses their home over a bill. Do you know how much it costs to go to the emergency room in the US, even if you have health care? The couple of times my kids fell down and we had to go, we couldn't buy all the food we needed that month. No one should have to choose between feeding their kids healthy food and having a doctor take care of them when they have an accident.

Healthcare still isn't the best though in Canada and the UK. When you look at countries like japan and germany, they use a mix of public and private healthcare. People who have the money to buy their own healthcare can buy it but the people who really need help can access public healthcare. It doesn't strain the system. Besides, most of the American middle class is already satisfied with their own private healthcare, so what's the point of radically switching to a new system? You might as well as just bring back ACA subsidies, fix the welfare cliff, combine the programs, and continue funding snap, medicare, medicaid, and tanf.

IS most of the middle class satisfied with their healthcare? Especially older Americans? I doubt it. Also, there's the issue of health care coming from your employer, so if you get laid off, you're SOL.
