What Next? Throw Away All Quarters & Dollar Bills? in politics

Jack the Ripper has been dead for centuries, time and him being dead doesn't magically erase what he did....

I'm not saying indict a dead man. But what I am saying is; we can't teach children to worship 300 hundred year old dead men because one book painted them as a hero when that is the opposite of case just because value traditionalism. At the end of the day, there was already a thriving nation with a government of their own that functioned just fine before the English settlers came along. And Washington may not have believed he was able to tell a lie, but he sure as the musk of a horse's breath didn't give two flying fiddlesticks if another man outside his household had to suffer to accommodate him. Is this the morals kids should be learning? That it's okay to step on others to get wherever you want? Oh wait, that's not what our history books say. They call him the father of a nation and a revolutionary leader. Meanwhile, Genghis Khan literally fathered a nation's worth of people, and the modern Chinese revere him as a wonderfully intelligent and cunning military strategist. But we call him a monster and are not so quick to erect a statue of him or name a school after him..

You don't get it, do you? I'm not talking about left OR right. Both sides are full of idiots; I can't trust either. The parties were only in existence to create division anyways. Because what I'm talking about isn't a democratic or republican issue, it's human rights. And that, should not be determined based on which side of the fence 60% of the popular vote thinks is right, but based on what people genuinely need.

Oh wait, I forgot, we don't live in a perfect world. Because half the entire population could die tomorrow; nobody would care after 3 days, because everyone would have already found something else shiny to chase, talk about, and be pissed off at for silly reasons.

Um... Who is *us* exactly? Because... George Washington relied heavily on slave labour for his lifestyle, and was literally the richest president in all history. But hey, at least he gave us vanilla ice cream and a quotable ideology about cherry trees, right?

Thomas Jefferson raped countless slaves and had dozens of illegitimate children that we can't trace to this day since slaves didn't really have birthdays, names, independence in pretty much any way whatsoever... It's supposed, and quite likely given the time period, that he continued the cycle of raping impregnation with some of his illegitimate daughters once they came of a certain age.

And Lincoln, well... I actually don't want to talk about some of his indiscretions. So, to avoid throwing up in my mouth, in case you weren't aware; he's not as honest or pure as his nickname implied. Ironic since he was supposed to be the first democratic president, if my sources are correct.

It wouldn't be the first time something like this has happened either. You know, people calling not to have our kids revere and idolize cruel dictators, serial rapists, or murderous lunatics. I mean, look at the father of modern gynecology or Christopher Columbus. And I can frankly understand why, since my ancestors were made to suffer because of well.. all these people. I don't want my kids seeing these men as heroes either. It'd be like making a modern Germanic Jewish kid whose grandparents just barely survived the holocaust to salute Hitler. I mean that in every way.

The relevance of the heroin mention was not because of any relation other than the time period. The 1700s were a time when middle class families bathed once a week at most and every member shared the same bath water, when mattress manufacturers stuffed their product with literal garbage, and at that point no one could really digest milk without developing violent sickness. It's actually no wonder people got as sick as they did so easily in that age. We didn't believe in the hygiene practices we do today, no one brushed their teeth or even washed their hands regularly; not even doctors. It wasn't mandatory or a big deal to them. Bacteria studies were still in their most infantile stages of development then. That's why I think we really shouldn't be taking medical advice haphazardly from the same people who would burn a woman and call her a witch without getting her side of the story because she happened to move in next door to a farmer whose cow was going to die the next day for still unknown reasons (likely disease); if she died in the fire, she was innocent. That was their idea of a fair trial.. We don't sell our daughter's hand in marriage for two goats anymore, and we don't shame a woman for being sexually assaulted and accuse her of being gender confused like Sigmund Freud. So, we don't take nutritional, psychological, hygienic, scientific, law, or occupational advice from the 1700s; yet our medical practices are still largely influenced by them. So please, do forgive me if I think it's a bit silly to cast off all their other ridiculously outdated procedures or ideas, but continue to follow their instructions on how to treat illnesses.
