I just have seen people do what I said above ("it wouldnt work without one being trans") and it kinda pisses me off because it's just easier imo to headcanon a different sexuality for a character than a different gender altogether
god i hate when people try to justify ships that are prefectly fine on their own by "oh i hc [character] as trans bc [other character] wouldn't be attracted to them otherwise"
fun fact: sexuality isn't restricted to "i like girls"/"i like boys"
