[3 of 4] Opposite of Christian prayer, Hindu meditation is inwardly focused on one's own spirit, claiming it will gain self-awareness for those practicing it. What does the Bible say about that? Are we supposed to focus on ourselves? No! Romans 8:5-6, tells us to deny ourselves because focusing on the flesh only leads to death, while using our minds to pray to God in a conversation, leads to life and peace. So, meditation is nothing at all like biblical prayer. "Those who practice transcendental meditation are setting their minds on their own spirit, looking within themselves in order to transcend themselves, rather than on the Spirit of God. Searching one's own mind—or emptying one's mind of all thought—may result in numbness or a temporary escape from reality, but...cannot bring true [and lasting] peace.” What meditation will do is get you into an altered state of consciousness, (literally, a hypnotic state), making you highly suggestible to spiritual realms that you do not want to mess with. [4 of 4] What if we just call it "contemplative prayer,” as practiced in some Christian Churches today? You may think Hindu meditation is attractive to the world but would never snooker Christians. Unfortunately, it's been in the Church for years. Hindu evangelizing can't call it Eastern transcendental meditation. Instead, they Christianized the name. It's the same old method the devil always uses, taking old lies and repackaging the false teachings, this time with Christianese to dupe Christians into thinking the idea came from God. Meditation, now in our Church, is called "contemplative prayer.” Though it says, “prayer,” it is not from God. Still, that lie has created one of the fastest growing practices in the America Church today and it’s just plain old pagan meditation. And anyone who pushes meditation far enough, will have a spiritual encounter, but it won’t be the Spirit of God. The Bible instructs us to pray with our minds. We do contemplate (thinking deeply) while in a real conversation with God. Though that’s not what "contemplative prayer" means. It is nothing like prayer in the Church. "Contemplative prayer has slowly increased in practice and popularity among the emerging church movement—a movement which embraces many unscriptural ideas and practices.” Eastern meditation has been labeled as contemplative prayer to infiltrate Churches by claiming we will have a genuine encounter with God. Again, you eventually will connect with something, but it will not be the Spirit of God. "Moksha” (the Hindu version of “salvation") is the reason Hindus perform practices like yoga, meditation, and mantras. However, moksha is not at all like Christian salvation. "The term

Karma and union with the Supreme Being

achieves Moksha through knowledge (Gyana),
devotion (Bhakti), or right works (Karma).”; Hindus must perform all these practices to achieve their supposed salvation (samsara), breaking free from the fictitious endless cycle of birth, death,
and rebirth (reincarnation). ![IS MEDITATION OKAY? [2 of 4] The Hindu technique of mediation is something Jesus warned us about. He told us not to pray like the pagans, who babble on and on. The Greek root is almost a direct translation from "barbar," referring to the barbarians who lived in foreign lands. The Greeks called them barbarians because when the Greeks heard them speak, it just sounded like, "brah, brah, brah, brah, brah, brah, brah…”; So, Jesus is telling us not to be like the pagans, who sound like barbarians when they pray to their idols. And that is precisely what mantras during meditation are; just repetitious babbling. Jesus said not to do it because it’s not the same as biblical prayer. When we Christians pray, obviously it is not focusing our mind on repetition of meaningless words or phrases.
