I have a theory about Dr Stone

Spoiler alert!!!
(Just the anime not manga); Here is my theory:
There was something (or someone) that realised people were destroying the planet (climate change, global warming etc). So they made some sort of nano attack and turned every human into stone. In the last episode we got a message saying "WHY", which I think that 'thing' trying to say "Why are you killing this planet? Why are humans like this?"
