This has been one of my favorite songs for about 27 years at this point. I run a karaoke business and this song is always my sound check b/c after this long I don't need the words in front of me, I walk around the bar with my wireless mic and listen and tune my soundboard accordingly.

I was a teen-aged redneck hardcore southern rocker when I came across this and it went to "play when alone" stack. Through the years I slowly learned how many people I would have never thought had heard it not only had, but knew the words :)

The song falls under the category of "Standards" being one of those songs performed by so many artists. If you enjoy the Bobby Darrin or Frank Sinatra versions, there are also cuts by Louis Armstrong, Jimmy Buffet (a duet with Frank Sinatra, although Buffet mixed his voice in with the original Sinatra cut as Frank had already passed away at the time), I also want to say there is an Ella Fitzgerald version out there as well. And as you would expect Tony Bennett, Brian Setzer and Micheal Buble have all put their twist on it as well.

I was actually listening to Louie and Frank earlier today. Setzer I have always enjoyed and listened to his cover many times. I was unaware of the Buffet/Sinatra combo, thanks for the tip. That is one of the things I like most about youtube is listening to different artists cover the same song. I was really shocked the night I stumbled across Dennis Deyoung of Styx and his cover of Bring Him Home from Les Mis. and Conrad Oberg an 8th grader who did a "Freebird" cover with his music teacher for his 8th grade piano recital. If you're a music fan and you haven't seen this kid invest a few minutes into it... what happens at the very end will blow you away.
