I don't think this is the website you'd want to go to if you're trying to copyright a meme.

I don't think he saw the article. It's not about the article. It's about taking a meme that's super-popular and widely circulated. I was never into memes, etc. until very recently and I've seen this meme before shared on social media. I happen to find the article when I Googled upside-down bat.

i doubt it would get that many upvotes if everyone had already seen it. I've never seen it before. I don't see what the big deal is. They're just memes.

I'm just saying you have unrealistic expectations if you think everything is going to be original. 99% of everything has already been done and no one is going to spend all of their time confirming if they've had a new idea or not just to make a meme.

I didn't say everything has to be original. Far from it. But posting a meme that was the subject of a newspaper article is ridiculous. And it making it to the front page is a sad commentary on this site. Oth, if someone saw a funny meme on reddit, another meme generator site, etc, and posted it here, I'd totally understand that.

It should be ridiculed. Memes aren't meant to only be original. They're popular visual catchphrases/ideas/jokes that get circulated.
