Jd, it is significant when the majority of people in this country have the false belief that Christianity is what the Constitution is founded on.

Not true. Once again I say reread factual history texts. Looking at a painters rendition of what happened is only the painters point of view.

E Pluribus Unum. The Constitution is not a Christian document, but I'll agree to disagree; It's a document written by Christians. 1812, 1863, 1873, 1938, 1956... ...2015

In correct. Please don't rely on your remembrances of 8th grade American history to be factual. In fact Thomas Jefferson who for the most part wrote the Constitution would be considered in our age an agnostic. You can throw out presidential amendments all you want. 1863 president Lincoln never claimed to be christian. Never attended any church. Please do some research.

lol, I never claimed to be Christian either...evolution through natural selection; I am an agnostic. Remembering way back to DoDDS, that was 7th grade American History. Take Care.

Then, they took it one step further and made an amendment to the constitution that says "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof".

Talking about government, not individuals. We all have the right to practice our religious beliefs, as long as those beliefs do not harm the welfare of others.

No, agree with what you're throwing down Spurs. Some people freak out when a podunk town puts up a nativity scene or Christmas tree at City Hall. That is not "Congress establishing a religion", especially if said podunk town puts up a menorah or any other decoration on a given holiday that their constituents request.

Yeah, that would be a bit ridiculous, unless it was for the Church of the FSM.

The State is separate from the Church. Every one of the founding Fathers was a bible believing christian.

Jefferson and Franklin weren't. (I'm a Christian and I've read their writings.)

My bad. (I'm Canadian) :-)
2 ups, 8y
LOL Agreed on the separation though, and I like it that way. Last thing I want is anyone in Washington telling me or my church what we're allowed to believe or how we're allowed to worship. I'll happily accept the flip side and not have our church try to backseat drive the government.

Not true. Read factual books about the founding Fathers. not what mainstream teachings imply about them.
0 ups, 8y
I'm not sure why you're calling believing the Founding Fathers are Christians "mainstream teachings"...
Actually, mainstream teaching is that all Christians are racist homophobic anti-science morons who should be annexed from the country, and that the founding fathers were not Christian. (Thomas Jefferson wasn't, and Franklin MOST DEFINITELY wasn't, however.)
