black and white are shades...not colors

black is the absence of colour, white is the presence of all colours

True, when speaking about light. When using crayons or paint- black is the presence of all colors and white is the absence.

Black is mix of all colors as well. I've taken courses in theater lighting, colors and shades are part of the course.

And, when you watch black and white shows, before long your mind starts seeing ... kinda in color. :-D Kinda. Sorta. :-D

When there is no light, everything is black.. There are no signs of photons. In other words, there are no photons of colors.
White is not a colour, Because Colours are made up of rays of coloured light which absorbes into whatever object. With white, all coloured rays are reflected and none are absorbed. It's not a colour, it's actually the lack of any colour. Conclusion :- The presence of white and black cannot be defined as colors. Therefore it is called as Black and white T.V.
