I thought liberal was the one who demanded more rights.

both conservatives and liberals believe in having civical and political writes, but the truth is that one is christian and the other isn't.(trust me)

i agree socialism meets many more of Jesus's teachings, but i do not think liberalism quite fits.

So Jesus was a socialist? OK...whatever. Most conservatives say liberals are socialists.....or commies....or even fascists LOL commie and fascist...LOL can't have it both ways guys. In any case Jesus was more LEFT than RIGHT. Sandals...no job...traveling with his boys...preaching about peace and love....HE WAS A HIPPIE!

I wouldn't necessarily say that Jesus was a "hippie", he really teaches to depend on other people, and work for other people and follow God.

Jesus was a socialist? So Jesus believed that you should sit around sponging off the government and rich peoples money? cause thats basically socialism. I always thought Jesus taught hard work, and socialism is the opposite. Its the philosophy of something for nothing, because people are just that lazy. Perfect example, minimum wage. People are too lazy to get a better job and/or improve their skill set to get a raise, so they just force people to raise the wage they get. And yes, I know some people CAN'T find a new job/get promoted, but seriously, thats a tiny amount. Minimum wage is for teenagers and younger people starting out in a job, not for a 4-person family to live decently off of.

Socialism is not about laziness, it's about working hard , then sharing the money with the government. (the thing that gave you money in the first place)
It's true that there no way to earn any more money than your neighbor, but that's wear Jesus's teachings come in, You really shouldn't need to make any more money than necessary.

So, you seriously think that people, when given "free money" from the government, will turn around and think, "hey, that sure was nice, I should work hard to give the money back!" If so, you're living in a delusional world.

in a social government you can't just simply not work and get welfare! you have to be crippled or ill to be qualified. Every abled body person can and will work.

So, you'll force everyone to work, just so some random guy you never knew can get money and medicine? Good luck. And, good luck getting the rich politicians to give up all their easy cash. and you're gonna give the same ammount of money to the hardworking businessman as you give to the lazy mcdonalds employee? It doesn't work.

I might just be stupid, but I see socialism as a more anti-materialistic form of government. Besides, why should people care about how much they work for there income? I really don't disagree with you, capitalism is very efficient
and fair. Still I don't think we should idealize trying to earn as much money as possible.

I see your point. Well, thats the incentive. The more I work, the more money I make, and the more nice things I can have. And I don't see rich people as uber mega evil corporations out to get us all, I mean, if every one of the companies run by "rich" people were to go out of business, a lot of jobs would be lost.
I agree with you, in my opinion, I wouldn't want to idealize making tons of money either. You don't have to be an uber rich person to be happy, you know. If I ever did become an uber rich person, however, I would (as I encourage most people with more money than they need) to give it back. An example would be some of the super rich christian groups, like KCM, who are super rich, but give back more than 90% of said money to other through free merchandise, sure it isn't straight money, usually, but they are using the money people give to them to do stuff like giving out free DVDs on their teachings, building a college with free boarding, stuff like that.
And thats just the minority of christians. Can you imagine if every rich person gave like, 50% of their money back to people, through things like charity? wouldn't that be nice.

What do you mean by, "social oppression"?

Liberals think the state knows what's best for the people and try to force their decisions and beliefs down our throats.

I really was curious as to what oppression conservatives push on people, besides thinking sodomy, murder, drug use and other such activities were bad.

As a libertarian, I feel drug use should be legal. The government should tell us what we can or can't put in our bodies. Gays should be allowed to marry, but the government shouldn't even be in the marriage business to begin with so if they would get the hell out of it that point would be mute. Prostitution should also be legal. It's a transaction between two people. Porn is legal but prostitution isn't? That makes no sense. They are too consenting adults let them make their own decisions. With all that in mind, I don't personally agree or would I partake in such activities, but it is not up to me, you or the government to dictate the lifestyle of others.

Thats true, but using the same logic one could argue that jumping off bridges should be legal because the adult is consenting to jumping off a bridge. Although I know its still his/her life, that doesn't mean jumping off a bridge is good for him/her.
