I'm proud of tesla as a white person the same way blacks are proud to have had MLK jr. They were both great minded individuals who made great accomplishments. Why is that so wrong to be proud of?

I get your point, but disagree. After all it was MLK Jr. who dreamed to be "judged not by the color of skin, but by the content of character". The whole idea of being proud to be black is probably the result of liberal white teachers who thought they needed to teach young blacks self respect after years of disrespected. But like so many, well intentioned, liberal projects it has done more harm than good. Today "back pride" is more of a stumbling block for youth in ghettos. Same for "red pride" on Indian reservations. The mentality keeps people from assimilating. But that's none of my business.

On a side note I told the native I worked with today that life is like a box a chocolates. The brown ones are the best ones! He busted up laughing :D

There is a difference between being proud of someone and being grateful for them...

I agree with that point, and by that logic, I shouldn't be attacked for the wrongs that other people who share some of my physical attributes have committed... And that's what happens when I say I'm proud to be Straight and White. That's why the comment says "Be Proud, no matter what you are."

I judge the prideful because pride without cause is insatiably moronic. Pride should beget an accomplishment, not some default quality you cannot help. Being proud of your skin color, you may as well wear a shirt boasting that you make your own poops. I mean hey, you can't help having a bowel movement, so let's be proud of that, too. Pride is divisive; to boast your qualities insinuates that there is something exceptional about them that other qualities lack. Ergo, if you take pride in something, it should behoove you to take pride in something worth taking pride in: something that took time, energy, labor, and thought. No one on this earth ever had to "work at being black" or "work at being gay." Maybe they experienced difficulties because of how people treated them for these qualities, but the qualities themselves simply do not change with any amount of labor you enact upon them. You may as well be proud of your nose shape, or proud of the proportion of your toes. It's vanity. And vanity deserves judgment.

That's what I'm saying. I personally think pride is often damaging, and most damaging when it makes people contented with non-accomplishments. The mood here seems to be that no genetic trait pride is toxic; I contend that it's all toxic. I can see damage coming of pride. I don't see it coming of humility.

Your theory on pride damaging society is really just an excuse in the wake of charleston, or it looks that way to me. I cant think of any other scenario where people are being affected because of their pride for something. White people arent going around being prideful of themselves and all whites' accomplishments, and neither are black or asian or whoever. And if there are ppl doing that, theyre far n few inbetween. Im a blues guitarist and i love clapton and hendrix most. But im not waving a flag with pride that clapton was a white guitar master, even tho he is. I love hendrix way more, but its not like im more proud of clapton because wer both white. Im equally proud as a musician that each person existed and did the things they did. And i refuse to feel sorry for feeling prideful for that. Race hardly plays into at this point, people just love to be butthurt these days

By "black" I mean "African descent." You can't magically change your origins.

Extinctions are generally not related necessarily to genetic characteristics. Extinctions are primarily related to exterior circumstances or influences unrelated to reproduction. Mutants generally cannot replicate themselves. The human "blind spot" has nothing to do with this argument. Birth defects don't result in organisms able to replicate. The existence of mutants says nothing to your argument, only that I didn't communicate my point clearly ... so I'll take the blame for that.

1. Evolution is essentially defined as gradual changes to the characteristics of a specie as it becomes assimilated into its surroundings.
2. The existence of mutants says EVERYTHING about my argument, because mutations must occur for evolution to exist. There must be deviations from what is already present. And since a FRACTION OF A PERCENT of mutations are useful to the individual, the vast majority of them are harmful, and therefore a byproduct of evolution which will inhibit their ability to procreate.
3. The reason I mention the blind spot is because evolution is not a target. Evolution adds onto what already exists more or less at random- not as a direct response to the environment. When the changes HAPPEN to coincide with the environment, they get passed on. An example of evolution not being a target: when you bend your individual fingers, the "oldest" part of your brain tells you to bend everything at once (like your hand is a flap)and then that impulse gets passed through a filter to refine it for each finger. Evolution works by adding on and the taking away is more seldom. It doesn't eliminate every aspect of old pathology to make the being more efficient.
4. Natural birth defects are a measurement of an individual's breeding viability and passing on of their lineage. IF an unnatural birth defect, or some extinction from **outside environmental influence** kills off the individual or specie, it is because they were not capable of adapting to their surroundings, whether too suddenly onset or because the occurrence of new traits did not arise, which is the entire function of evolution.

Genes are plastic to the environment. Only those which are able to endure pass on sustainably. Therefore if homosexuality is genetic, then homosexuals are going to be less viable for whatever factors the environment allows.

Do you know what ALLELES, PHENOTYPES, and GENOTYPES are?
Each gene has 2 allele pairings. A phenotype is an observable characteristic. A genotype is a genetic characteristic which may rely on environmental factors to trigger its appearance. Homosexuality is not a singular asset that gets passed on. It's a phenotype- an expression of odd gene pairings, which may get passed down singularly. Look up Mendeleev Squares. A little rudimentary research should clear up for you very easily how a gay gene could be passed down.

Because straight people who don't have the complete genotype can pass it down. It's like saying, "Why don't tall people or short people die out?" Even if we were all medium-height, it could be the expression of Tt (tall and short pairing). Tt x Tt = TT or tt
