I never mentioned anything about not being part of society. The main point os that I never follow what they do, because the majority of the time, shat they do, is disgusting and pretentious anyway. Copying celebrities, or the way they look, or going for a politician simple because everyone else is. Society is a load of rubbish, even if we DO live in it.

but what if, say, they were following somebody with actual value and you were just blindly dismissing them as a product of a fad? you never know.

That was the first time I used it though and it's not on this site, well not that I've seen anyway, so how can you say it's "generally down voted" when I've never used it before?
