No the biggest LIE of all is the Big Bang theory. In truth, the universe is infinite in its age, and has neither a beginning nor an end. Fred Hoyle was probably right.
Suit yourself. I find it quite preposterous that the Universe itself had a set starting point like our solar system does. The cosmic background radiation; sure its likely real, but what is really its origin? Plus, mathematically speaking its not feasible to calculate what events happened at or before the singularity(ie the "starting point" of the universe) Also, there are some stars discovered that appear to be older than 13.7 billion years. Makes more sense than it having ALWAYS existed, and that is infinite in size...
Whatever, we both have our opinions, and I'm not going to argue with you about it. In the end, the size, age, and origin of the universe are pretty much irrelevant.
