Wait, I read that book more recently. I'm pretty sure it was the first written star wars book, and was written in such a way that it could easily be adapted as a lower-budgeted sequel in case A New Hope didn't do too well. I was so very confused at the spelling of "Kyber" as "Kaiburr" until I realized when the book came out. Amazing how different the Kyber crystals are now as compared to the book.
