Idiots in congress talking about how AI will go Terminator on us like that's the only sci-fi speculative story about robots in existence.

Isaac Asimov WWWAAAYYY back in 1940-1942 wrote The Three Laws Of Robotics for robots/AI-

1) A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.

2) A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.

3) A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

So why can't we hardwire these three laws into Robots, AI, and the like and be done with it.

The whole point of those books was to show how those laws didn't work.

Actually the laws worked a little too well. Robots took them literally instead of being able to think around possible contradictions. Then there is the Zero Law but nobody really acknowledges that.

Yes, the laws didn't work and ended up being more dangerous for society.

Workarounds can be done. In the Will Smith version of I, Robot, the robot saved Will's character over a child and the child died. So in real life we can add a rule that states, "A child's life must take priority over an adult's life regardless of the three laws in a life or death situation." Also robots cannot do things like firefighting or police work. A robot can work in an ER but cannot determine triage.

The Three Laws of Robotics are just the foundation. The problem in the novels and stories is that nobody added to them to prevent things like contradictions in robots which caused them to either go out of control or develop some kind of messiah complex(zero law).

The issue is we can't foresee all workarounds the AI will try nor all situations. The safest way is to use AI as a tool and a human makes the decisions.

They must have known how the Democrats twist everything sort of like kid gloves with criminals today. I'd say he were correct then.

It's one thing to know laws.
It's entirely another thing to obey laws.
If robots learn from humans,
beware the learning curve.

And retards on the left don't want to obey laws so if they make the robots they'll program a whole bunch of stupidity into them.

The problem with intelligent humor is that it's only funny for the person who thunk it.
