The mRNA technology was at least 10 years old by covid, what they did was attach the covid spike generation RNA onto existing technology.
The entire thing was a plan to get the mRNA technology approved since it had never passed the required trials to that point, despite 10 years of attempts.
mRNA is simply a delivery system to get something inside of cells.
