Oh so the people who tried to overturn the 14th amendment over some perceived nebulous threat of foreign invasion. Those sorts of people who would sacrifice our freedoms for security?

The phrase "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" ensures that anyone born on U.S. soil is automatically granted birthright citizenship, provided they are completely subject to U.S. laws and not owing allegiance to a foreign power. -ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union)

So, please do elaborate regarding "AND subject to the jurisdiciton thereof" within the 14th amendment.
Why include this phrase within the ratified 14th amendment? Why not just FULL STOP at the comma just prior?

If this were the intention of the writers of the 14th Amendment; then would it not clearly state:

"All persons born or naturalized in the United States, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside."

...because that's how Justice Roberts interpreted it. And, he had the nice added touch of using English Common Law from the 1600's as his precedent This is precisely calling a person the SUBJECT of a King or Queen.
Is that what former slaves are held account to within the 14th amendment?
Does emancipation from a slave owner BIND them to The Federal Gov't ?
Or are we ALL "Free individual people" first, and foremost ?
