Usually during interglacials, insignificantly larger portion of Florida would be underwater. Scientists can't explain why it hasn't happened this time, because not even continental drift can account for the fact that we've been far cooler in the last last 10,000 years than we normally would be, and anthropogenic global warming wasn't exactly much of a factor 120,000 years ago.

I live in Colorado, these fires were caused by a giant lightning storm that passed through the state. Drought conditions created the perfect fuel for these fires to spread rapidly.

Two summers in a row this has occurred, last year it was Black Canyon National Park and the Uncompahgre Plateau as well as the Deer Creek fire which produced one of the largest fire tornadoes in history, this year it's state wide fires, including in Ouray and Colorado National Monument(Pictured in post)

Also in Utah, the Cottonwood Fire is believed to be the most destructive in the state's history
