I know it's always been their special interests and campaign contributors that they really care about.

It’s trendy to imagine Democrats as champions of the little guy. Yet historically, the party has had deep ties to the powerful:

The “Solid South” leaned on railroad magnates and cotton kings.
Tammany Hall ran on patronage and big corporate donations.
In recent years, Big Tech, Wall Street, and Big Pharma have overwhelmingly favored Democrats in political contributions.

But aren't those categories big campaign contributors to the Democrats normally, so the government will be as hands off as possible?

That's right and look where it got them.

Another example that Intelligence doesn't equal Wisdom. It's very obvious that dems are never good for the rich. . .let alone everyone else. . .it's only recently when some of these rich people got a face full of Madamani that they realized dems are no good for them.

We can only hope. In my City it's over develop by the freeway on ramps, making it hard to get out of the City in an emergency. So they have all kinds of tricks. Although my City Council is considered to be Progressive.
