Good advice for those looking to settle down. Genetics are so important and I am a big believer that they influence outcome more so than environment.

Also agree with your reference about weight and I would add height in that category as well. It irritates me when women today often say they want only to date tall men, for example. (I can say I didn't start out thinking the way I do now because I married a man 6 foot 1 inch. But knowing what I know now, and having seen attractive, very smart men who are short, that should not be a prerequisite for a man.)

I think people who are looking for a long-term relationship or marriage should focus on compatibility, moral/ethical similarities, the desire to have children or not, and making sure there is an initial spark between them which is very important.

Looking back at all my successes, failures, wins and loses my wife was right beside me, never losing faith and when needed pulling me back, placing me back on the right road and shoving me forward. I tell people all the time, I know what I get out of the deal, I have no idea why she stays.

Thank you. Sadly, I agree, not everyone is so blessed. Too many couples fail to take the time and effort to choose wisely, and others fail to take the time to change together.
