If you truly care about women at all, guess what? That also includes trans women. Transphobia is a tool of the patriarchy (which harms women) to police all women’s bodies, trans and cis alike. As transphobia gains more visibility, we unsurprisingly see more cis women experiencing misdirected transphobia. Trans people are the named target of transphobia, but transphobia works to control cis people as well, forcing them to either adopt narrow expressions of gender or risk harassment. Even when misdirected transphobia isn’t on the table, the same patriarchal values that uplift transphobic beliefs harm cis people, particularly cis women. One example of this is physical strength. We are bombarded with messages from birth that women are inherently weak, though we know this isn’t true. I would feel comfortable in the bathroom with a trans woman bc she is a woman. As I said, we have bigger fish to fry, trans women are such a non-issue. It's just transphobes who have to make it an issue. It's not that deep, move on. Focus on global warming, the Epstein files, or the dying kids in Gaza if you want to worry about something.
