It may be possible, but it would take some effort. Once you have trained AI to say 2+2=5, it could make a multi-million dollar machine worthless.

Talk about epic irony and hypocrisy: going on social media in your comfy chair to rant about the planet and the evils of "AI", while also using tons of resources, on a smartphone made from a thousand parts mined, processed and shipped thousands of miles around the world thru just-in-time supply chains, globalization, colonial power imbalances, child labor with kids risking their lives mining precious metals in countries that often don't even see the profits, and a huge carbon footprint.

While wearing a T-shirt made by kids in Bangladesh, shoes made by kids in Vietnam, jeans that are washed so many times they destroy ecosystems and used to drain lakes (Google the Aral Sea) and drinking a ridiculous overpriced coffee at Pret or Starbucks in a single-use disposable cup that began life millions of years ago as fossilized sea creatures, gets used for 10 mins, and ends up back in the ocean as turtle food and ultimately as microplastics in your brain and body, served to you by an immigrant worker or poor person you went to school with on min wage that doesn't pay enough to live on.

From coffee beans farmed by people who get a pittance to feed their families, while some Cali entrepreneur bro makes millions from his startup that has about 10 employees instead of 5,000 like they used to even in Dickens' day, and doesn't even pay legal wages because the internet has no rules, apparently, that people literally died fighting for, so they can exploit millions of people online for literally 2 bucks an hour on zero-hours "contracts" with zero sick leave, holiday pay, health care, m/paternity pay, pension, job security or rights, while making bank instead of paying actual legal wages and giving workers rights that our grandparents fought and died for.

I wonder what the Suffragettes would make of it all. Stay classy. Stay angry. Stay butthurt.

And don't moan when you get populists like Trump or the RW surging everywhere no matter how disturbing that is (coz I sure as hell don't want that) because that was entirely predictable and you had it coming before I was even born but stuck your fingers in your ears, it seems. Shoulda paid attention decades ago, I'm afraid, when people were getting screwed over and no one (apparently?) gave a shit other than a few environmental activists and scientists, etc. Now people are angry coz they've lost their livelihoods and dignity. They lost them a long time ago.

Carl Sagan warned us about climate change in the 70s and no one listens even now. We've all got microplastics in our brains and naughty bits. God only knows what that does to us. Could've banned this decades ago.

Biodegradable plastics you can put on your compost are already a thing ffs and have been for a while. But we didn't use them (still don't) coz they're more expensive, and profit margins and the oil industry has one helluva political lobby so let's keep making single-use plastics that can't be recycled (and illegally overthrowing regimes to get our hands on that oil to keep making plastics... ).

Robots could make us extinct and explain that Fermi paradox of why we never find intelligent life.

(Every intelligent civilization that develops to this point ends up going extinct by developing tech that actually destroys it because it's way more advanced and powerful than its creators, so almost no civilization ever makes it past this point which is a weirdly sad and sobering and creepy thought.

Either that or the universe is just too ancient and vast and we missed them by hundreds of millions of years or are too far to reach them even communicating at light speed coz God got a bit trigger-happy with space–time and made it so stupidly big we can never go anywhere.

(It'll be 30K years before the Voyager spacecraft (aka the fastest thing humans ever made, with that gold plaque Carl Sagan helped write) even finally leave the Oort Cloud and actually officially leave the solar system and enter deep space, and then hundreds of thousands of years to reach the nearest star, Proxima Centauri, which is around 4 ly away.

Except they're not even headed that way. Oops.

That's just the nearest star. The Andromeda Galaxy is 2.5 million ly away, so effectively impossible to ever reach unless we discover worm holes or sth. Might as well not exist coz we're never getting there.

Set to collide with the Milky Way anyway. But humans prob won't exist by then.

And there are as many galaxies in the known universe as grains of sand in the desert or something. The whole thing is a giant psyop.

Or if advanced aliens do exist they're using tech we can't detect, or once they get to that level they're smart enough to lay low to protect themselves from hostile civilizations (which maybe we should do, because if nature is anything like human history this didn't end well when a slightly more advanced civilization turned up). Europeans colonized and decimated Africa and the Americas, with just a few centuries of head start tech-wise. Imagine a civilization 1 million years ahead of us. We'd be like bacteria.

So maybe any smart civilization is like "Shit, be quiet!"

Unlike us pumping out signals everywhere Dr Seuss style saying "We're here!" lol.

Or they just don't wanna talk to us cos we're annoying or as primitive to them as us discovering a planet populated by ants. Who knows?
